Published system requirements “Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 8.1/ 10/ Server 2003/ Server 2008/ Server 2012” are incorrect. The stolen GPLv3 build of FFMPEG.EXE that is abused to merge the downloaded audio file and video file is built for windows 7 and above and so cannot possibly run under XP or Vista. Attempting to run the main executable under Vista anyway… as I can always swap out the illegal and incompatible FFMPEG.EXE with a legal and compatible one… and after pasting in a youtube URL it flashes up a small alert window saying its analysing the URL and then quits analysing it and the alert window vanishes and nothing happens. I note that executing the main program throws up a UAC prompt warning that the program for some undisclosed reason is demanding elevated user rights normally reserved for installers and direct access disc and system maintenance utilities which is HIGHLY suspicious for a simple youtube downloader which should never require elevated rights! Also the imbedded CURL.EXE executable is a 64bit executable which means whatever that’s used for will only function under 64bit editions of windows XP to 10… And to think this is version 12.8.0 they should have worked out these build bugs by now! If they are bugs and not undocumented design features. Thanks to comment #1 I won’t be putting this massively buggily designed at best or likely riskware on my windows 10 machine after trying this out under Vista with the faulty 3rd party executables replaced with fully functional versions for the operating system and it still showing only signs that imply unnecessary risks and zero claimed functionality. TO the developer/vendor please explain yourself, are you a malware purveyor just a very bad and dishonest programmer that produces a riskey GUI with no overall functionality?

Also The domain https://www.free-youtube-video-downloader.com/ has a VERY spotted history going back to 2010 when it was NOT the site for a youtube downloader at all… on archive.org it only becomes the site it is now in 2025 before then it was a clickbait site… There was certainly not enough time for a program to go from a genuine 1.0 to 12.8.0 since then. With first archived installer April 6th 2025 and it was version 11.8.0 so it practically appeared out of nowhere at an unrealistically high version number. I notice the program does several unsolicited https requests to a domain called https://www.tyrsofts.com/ the site looks suspiciously like the same build style as the free youtube downloader site with similar bold claims and similar spotty history on archive.org first showing up as a free spotify music downloader and now offering a similarly designed website this time for Tyrsofts Data Recovery with similar claims of popularity of hundreds of thousands of happy users except one slightly contradicting FACT Edges SmartScreen advises massive caution when downloading the files from ALL these websites as they are not commonly downloaded and you have to be quite assertive to keep a copy of the downloaded files suggesting that the claim of hundreds of thousands of happy users is just an outright lie, that is why they came here to get their riskware installed on as many PC’s as possible. VIrusTotal scan reports no viruses or known malware BUT does show MANY suspect behaviours of activities not normally required by installers of programs like these like process injections accessing cookie data to mention but a few.
