I found out ScreenToGif is open source and free on GitHub. I was happy to find out about the program, but then I was led down a rabbit hole for no reason, also the fact PC Winsoft provided the program installer as a .dmg file, which I am not used to working with and wanted to put me through paces to get a key to activate was insufferable! On GitHub the file was offered as a standard executable no strings attached, it installed flawlessly and works right out of the box – so to speak.
